NYU Shanghai: Best of Chinese and American Education

Jointly established by New York University and East China Normal University, NYU Shanghai is the third degree-granting campus in NYU's global network, joining NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU's campus in New York City. It is also the first Sino-US joint venture university approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China with independent legal person status. At this special Renwen lecture, Dr. Yu Lizhong, President of NYU Shanghai, will shed light on this ultra-modern university as a new model for US-China collaboration in education, including opportunities and challenges in this new venture.
A Celebration of Chinese Literature
The Renwen Society will host an event on May 30th with a delegation of prominent authors from China, who are coming to attend BookExpo America. The Expo this year designates China as the country of honor. This Renwen event will provide a unique opportunity to meet and listen to some of China''''s most exciting literary voices.

稿件要求：
1、文稿应资料可靠、数据准确、规范，文责自负。来稿不少于3000字符，两个版面4000字符（含空格），依次类推。来文随附作者单位、邮编、手机、电话、电邮等个人信息。
2、姓名在文题下按序排列，排列应在投搞时确定，同时注明作者单位名称及邮政编码。来稿严格按学术论文格式要求，附有摘要、关键词、参考文献等。
3、论文涉及的课题如取得国家或部、省级以上专项基金或攻关项目，用黑体字加圆括号标注，置于正文后、注释或参考文献前。
4、为缩短刊出周期和减少错误，来稿一般采取电子文档。文档名请作者设为作者姓名，以便查阅。
5、来稿不退。严禁抄袭，文责自负。请勿一稿多投！来稿无论录用与否都于7日内给予回复，作者来稿前后可与编辑部联系，以便查收。
6、本刊所发论文将为中国学术期刊网全文数据库(CNKI 中国知网)全文收录、万方数据数字化期刊群全文收录、中国学术期刊(光盘版)全文收录期刊。
来稿一般技术格式规范:
1、文稿应资料可靠、数据准确、规范，文责自负，字数不超过2200字/版（含空格），即两个版面不超过4500字符（含空格），依次类推。
2、来文随附作者姓名、单位全称、所在省市、邮编、电话、电邮等信息 如：王 伟（武汉大学教育学院 湖北 武汉 430070）。
3、来稿严格按学术论文格式要求，附有摘要、关键词、参考文献等。摘要，用第三人称写法，不超过200字；关键词，3－5个。
4、论文涉及的课题如取得国家或部、省级以上专项基金或属攻关项目，用黑体字加圆括号标注，置于正文后、注释或参考文献前。
5、文内标题 简洁、明确，其序号为：1、1.1、1.1.1。层次不宜过多，第一层次一般为黑体，不加标点符号；同一层次的格式须统一。
6、数字用法 凡公历世纪、年代、年、月、日、时刻、各种记数、计量均用阿拉伯数字；夏历和建国以前的历史纪年用汉字，并以圆括号加注公元纪年。
7、表格 采用三线表，表内序号一律为阿拉伯数字，表序与表题居中置于表格上方。
8、注释 用于对文内某一特定内容的解释或说明，序号为：①②③注释置于正文尾部，“参考文献”上面。
9、参考文献 对文章所参考的文献的作者、出处、版本等详细情况的注明。 |

2015 MENTORING CONFERENCE: CALL FOR PROPOSALS

You have until Sunday to submit your abstract proposal for the 2015 mentoring conference: New Perspectives in Mentoring: A Quest for Leadership Excellence & Innovation.
We invite faculty, staff and students of higher education, researchers, K-12 educators, community leaders, administrators, non-profit partners, government agencies, and other professionals to join us in a rich mix of conversation, networking opportunities, hands-on workshops, and engagement among scholars and professionals in the fields of mentoring, coaching, and leadership.
CONFERENCE DATES: Tuesday - Friday, October 20-23 in Albuquerque, NM.
2015 KEYNOTE SPEAKER
The 2015 keynote speaker is Dr. Carol A. Mullen, professor of Educational Leadership at Virginia Tech. She will present her keynote session: The Leadership Identity Journey: Transformative Leaps for Humankind.
CONFERENCE THEME
The 2015 conference theme is New Perspectives in Mentoring: A Quest for Leadership Excellence & Innovation. The theme aims to inspire the discovery of new perspectives in mentoring, and how they can be used to foster strong leaders for the future generation.
We are looking for proposals that are: relevant to the field of developmental relationships; supported by theory and research; and applicable to the conference theme. Types of Developmental Relationships: peer-mentoring, reverse mentoring, coaching, networking, and sponsorship. We are interested in presentations based in the following fields: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics), Arts & Humanities, Government & Business, Health Sciences, and Education. With this in mind, we seek proposals that accomplish any of the following:
• Builds on the knowledge-base of existing literature pertaining to developmental relationships.
• Demonstrates the effectiveness of existing mentoring programs.
• Proposes a methodology or evaluation model for mentoring relationships.
• Suggests new ideas and best practices for successful developmental relationships.
• Proposals that include participants of different nationalities, different levels of experience, and from different institutional and organization types.

Dr Willy Lam teaches Chinese politics and foreign policy at the Center for China Studies, the History Department, and the Master’s Program on Global Political Economy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a former China writer and editor at the South China Morning Post and CNN. Lam has published seven books including Chinese Politics in the Hu Jintao Era (Routledge, 2006). He is a senior fellow at the Jamestown Foundation, a foreign-policy think tank in Washington DC. Lam’s views on China are regularly cited by global media including the Associated Press, AFP, Bloomberg and Voice of America.
Since early 2005, Dr Lam has been a Professor of China Studies at Akita International University, Japan (www.aiu.ac.jp). He is also an Adjunct Professor at Chinese University of Hong Kong (History Department & Master of Global Political Economy Program); and a Senior Fellow at Jamestown Foundation (www.jamestown.org), a leading foreign-policy think tank in Washington D.C.

Choreographer and dancer, Ming-Shen Ku is based in Taiwan. Since 1991, Ms. Ku has been deeply involved in Contact Improvisation, introducing the practice to Taiwan. She founded her dance company “Ku & Dancers” in 1993 to present new work and promote concepts of improvisation. “Ku & Dancers” has performed in New York, Australia, Paris, London, China, Korea and Indonesia. Ku & Dancers is the only professional dance company from Taiwan that has devoted itself to improvisation work, They founded “i-dance Taipei”, a biannual improvisation dance festival, which has been part of the international “i-dance” network since 2011. Currently, Ming-Shen Ku serves as the Dean of the School of Dance in Taipei National University of the Arts. Ms. Ku has also been invited as a guest artist to perform and to teach in many universities and dance companies around the world. She has received Wu San Lien award, a life time achievement award, in 2009.

The term Laozian or Taoistic sense of social responsibility derived from close textual reading and comprehensive analyses of theories in the Laozi or Daodejing, especially the Laozi’s terms of profound virtue (xuande), civilized naturalness (ziran) and non-direct action (wuwei). A typical expression of Taoistic responsibility is that a sage should support myriad beings in their natural development without taking daring and audacious action toward all creatures.
Taoistic concept of social responsibility purports an ideal social order and harmony without coercion and oppression and features three principles: 1) The concern of a responsible leader should focus on myriad things (wanwu) including mankind in the world. We may name this attitude as “patient-oriented responsibility.” 2) A Taoistic leader should practice the principle of all-inclusiveness without distinguishing between groups of people and communities for any reason. 3) The all-inclusive principle requires a neutral political and moral stance.
