Dear All
Eddie, thank you so much for your email of which I have similar feeling. We have to join the main stream and at the same time we can keep our culture. By nationality, I am Australian, and by race, I am Chinese. I am the former Deputy Mayor of a Local Government, the former President of a Lions Club, the Vice President of Australian Foshan Association and Advisor and Consultant of other Associations. We have to unite together to help the countries in which we are citizens or residents and at the same time, and we have to act as a bridge between China and countries in which we have our homes.
I believe that the Chinese Government must have some criteria to identify Chinese Associations. Unity is Power. If we unite together, the local citizens and residents will respect and vice versa. To my experience, Jewish and Japanese have very good reputations of Unity.
The article mentioned that some associations were one man associations. If by law, it is legal to do set up a assocation as such, we cannot dispute the law. However, the Chinese Government can explain the Chinese Policies and Directions regarding their views. In my opinion, one man associations should not exist because one man association only represents one person and do not, repeat, do not represent a group of people.
Having explained my views, I hope the Chinese Government can voice their voices to set a positive direction to local ethnic Chinese groups to unite together to contribute their efforts to China and the countries where their homes are.
I wish all of you every success in 2012.

Glad to hear. I do not believe there is 20% one-person Associations globally but could be a few. In WA, an Association must have six persons and a constitution in order to get it registered. I agree with西班牙中國溫州同鄉總會主席潘勇昨日接受 本報記者採訪時說: 使館作為與僑社打交道的政府部門，可以對當地僑社做逐一篩查，發現名不副實的僑社就將他們剔除出名單。If Taiwan is prepared to talk to us, why not the PRC so far?
