Heroes of History: Legacy of My Chinese Family - by Tina Chen, Emmy, Golden Globe and Drama Desk Nominee
Join us as actress Tina Chen recounts the fascinating story of three generations of her mother's family and their contributions to the history of China. Learn about a Governor General of six provinces who served under three different Qing Dynasty emperors and the Empress Dowager Tzu Hsi; about his son, an assistant to Sun Yat Sen, who became the first Prime Minister of the Republic of China; and about his granddaughter (Tina Chen's mother), a Cambridge scholar who, after fleeing to Taiwan during the war, took on secret work that she had to hide even from her husband. These prominent figures are brought back to life through stories and photographs. Reception with Ms. Chen to follow.

Australia says NO - Second Time she has done this !
AMAZING You must read it !!!!
----------------------------
She''''s done it again...

She sure isn''''t backing down on her hard line stance and one has to appreciate her belief in the rights of her native countrymen..

A breath of fresh air to see someone lead. I wish some leaders would step up in Canada & USA .

Australian Prime Minister does it again!!

This woman should be appointed Queen of the World.. Truer words have never been spoken.

It took a lot of courage for this woman to speak what she had to say for the world to hear. The retribution could be phenomenal, but at least she was willing to take a stand on her and Australia ''''s beliefs.

The whole world needs a leader like this!

Prime Minister Julia Gillard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks..

Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the nation''''s mosques. Quote:

''''IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.. Take It Or Leave It.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians. ''''

''''This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom''''

''''We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!''''

''''Most Australians (but not me) believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.''''

''''We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.''''

''''This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, ''''THE RIGHT TO LEAVE''''.''''

''''If you aren''''t happy here then LEAVE. We didn''''t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.''''

Discipline Work Group Meeting!
January 21-22, 2011

Registration Form Available Online At: http://tinyurl.com/AlliedHealthDWG

Meeting Times
January 21, 2010: Sign-in begins at 3:15 p.m.; Meeting begins at 3:30 p.m.; Meeting concludes at 6:00; Dinner on your own.

January 22, 2010: Breakfast begins at 9:00 a.m.; Meeting begins at 10:00 a.m.; Discipline breakouts begin at 10:30 a.m.; Lunch served at noon; Breakouts continue until 2:30 p.m.; Report out general session from 2:30 – 3:00 p.m.; Meeting concludes at 3:00 p.m.

Purpose of Meeting
Since 2006, the Statewide Career Pathways program has facilitated articulation between California high schools/ROCPs and community colleges. Our next step for Statewide Career Pathways is to facilitate the development of model Programs of Study for use by educators across the State.

Programs of Study can be defined as a “multi-year sequence of academic and technical courses that provides students with a structured progression of secondary and post-secondary instruction toward a specific career area.” (Tech Prep Distribution Points/CA Dept. of Education).

SECOND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SPORT AND SOCIETY
Unitedworld School of Business
Kolkata, India
28 February - 1 March, 2011
http://www.SportConference.com/

We are excited to be holding the Second International on Sport and Society. The conference will be held at the United World School of Business. Kolkata has been selected as the location for the 2011 conference as it is one of the host cities for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. As such participants will be immersed in the experience of the tournament. The dates also have been set to include the option of attending the India v. England match in the world famous Eden Gardens Stadium.

The conference hopes to engage university and international academics to consider broad questions about the connections between sport and society. The International Conference on Sport and Society and its companion International Journal of Sport and Society provide a forum for wide-ranging and interdisciplinary examination of sport, including: the history, sociology and psychology of sport; sports medicine and health; physical and health education; and sports administration and management. The discussions at the conference and in the journal range from broad conceptualizations of the fundamental logics of sport, to highly specific readings of sporting practices in particular times and places. The conference and journal focus on four logics of sport: Game Logic; Body Logic; Aesthetic Logic; and Organizational Logic.

This year, the conference will include the following plenary speakers:

* Dr. Boria Majumdar, Executive Editor of Sport in Society and Soccer and Society.
* Varsha Majmudar, Ten Time National Champion in Four International Sports, Singapore.
* Dominic Malcolm, Loughborough University, UK.

We would particularly like to invite you to respond to the conference Call-for-Papers. Presenters may choose to submit written papers for publication in the International Journal of Sport and Society. If you are unable to attend the conference in person, virtual registrations are also available which allow you to submit a paper for refereeing and possible publication in this fully refereed academic Journal.

In addition to organizing the Sport Conference, Common Ground publishes papers from the conference at http://www.sportandsocietyjournal.com and we do encourage all conference participants to submit a paper based on their conference presentation for peer review and possible publication in the journal. We also publish books at http://sportandsociety.com in both print and electronic formats. We would like to invite conference participants to develop publishing proposals for original works, or for edited collections of papers drawn from the journal which address an identified theme. Finally, please join our online conversation by subscribing to our monthly email newsletter, and subscribe to our Facebook, RSS, or Twitter feeds at http://sportandsociety.com .

Whether you are a virtual or in-person presenter at this conference, we also encourage you to present on the conference YouTube Channel. Please select the Online Sessions link on the Conference website for further details. The final deadline for the next round in the call for papers (a title and short abstract) is 27 January, 2011. Proposals are reviewed within three weeks of submission. Full details of the conference, including an online proposal submission form, are to be found at the conference website - http://www.SportConference.com/.

Yours Sin…
