Dear Colleague: I wanted to personally invite you to our upcoming Disaster Preparedness Academy. This Academy addresses the needs of large and small businesses, schools, universities, government agencies, nonprofit, faith-based organizations, and community members on how to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters. It offers an affordable way to learn about resources available to you and build plans that will help individuals, businesses and communities prepare. Last week’s earthquake in Napa, with hundreds injured and estimates exceeding $1 Billion in damage to buildings, businesses and infrastructure, is a stark reminder that Californians are vulnerable to disaster. Without being prepared, individuals’, and an entire community’s ability to recover from a disaster can be a lengthy, emotional and financially draining process. Preparedness affects Response, and can speed Recovery. Please find attached the Academy course catalog which explains it all: schedule, workshop descriptions, keynote speakers, presenters, vendor information, registration, etc. By attending this Academy it will allow us as partners to strive together to build a resilient community.
