I''m excited to invite you to Asian American Professional Association’s
(AAPA) Leadership Symposium on Friday, June 1st, 2012. AAPA is a professional non-profit organization that sponsors annual events to enhance professional, management and leadership skills for Asian Americans to better position their careers for upward mobility. This annual leadership symposium is to heighten awareness of the ongoing under-representation of Asian American & Pacific Islanders in corporate leadership position, and to discuss opportunities and career advancement challenges of API in the workplace. The symposium’s focus of this year is “Building a Diverse Leadership Pipeline” and the topics that surround our focus are:

第10屆亞太裔科技與工程獎學金
西雅圖中國工程師學會為促進美國亞太裔青少年在科技和工程領域發展專業興趣，並鼓勵他們對社區和社會不斷貢獻，將舉辦「第十屆亞太裔科技與工程獎學金」活動，歡迎亞太裔青少年踴躍報名參加。獎學金類別共分三組，分別為 (一)初中組：7至9年級，每名250元；(二)高中組：10至12年級，每名500元；(三)大學組：每名600元。所在年級以2012年5月31日後的新學期為準，秋季開學之後的新學期為準。有意報名者必須具備以下三項條件：一、參選人必須於2012年5月31日之後在美國華盛頓州認可的公立或私立學校就讀，並在2012年秋季學期是全職學生。二、參選人必須具有亞太裔家庭背景。三、去年獎學金的獲獎者不得於今年再度參選同類型的獎學金。選拔標準將依學習成績、社區服務，在科技或工程領域的理想、課外活動和成果，以及簡要的論文(Essay)來做評鑑。報名自即日起開始至6月15日截止，獲獎人將在7月31日前接到通知，得獎人將於今年9月該會秋季年會時接受頒獎。有關詳情請電郵至：ciescholarship@cie-sea.org洽詢，也可至該會網站：www.cie-sea.org查詢細節。

　　时隔3年收养的两名女婴竟是亲姐妹，你相信吗？这样的事就在大洋彼岸发生了：1998年和2001年，美国妇女邦妮分别收养了两名中国女婴，谁料随着孩子慢慢长大，邦妮竟发现两人相貌竟长得酷似双胞胎。结果DNA鉴定证实，两个女孩果然是亲生姐妹。
　　如今，两名女孩已经懂事，她们很想知道自己来自哪里，亲生父母是谁？为了满足两个女儿的愿望，邦妮想为她们寻找亲生父母。据悉，两个女孩的父母可能居住在彭水和黔江一带，知情市民可拨打本报热线966965提供线索，帮助邦妮圆女儿的梦。
　　老外3年时间从福利院收养两女婴
　　昨天，记者通过电子邮件采访了远在美国的邦妮。“两个女儿很乖，很活泼，我们都很疼爱她们。”邦妮告诉记者，她住在美国新罕布什尔州，从事信息技术工作，目前是一个部门的主管。她很喜欢中国，经常到中国旅游，交了很多中国朋友。1998年6月，她从北京的收养中心得知，有一个很乖巧的女婴被人遗弃。一直很想收养一个女儿的邦妮于当年8月底从美国赶到了中国。当时这名女婴在湖南省常德市社会福利院，已有14个月大了。
　　“我见到这名女婴时，我都无法用语言来形容她有多么的乖巧，她没有头发，但一双大大的眼睛却可爱极了！”邦妮说，她从常德市社会福利院得知，这名女婴出生时头顶有一个瘤，已在常德一家医院做了切除手术，头顶上留下了一块疤痕。随后，邦妮将这名女婴带回美国，并将她头上的疤痕治好了。常德市社会福利院给这名女婴取名叫常爱杰，邦妮收养后给她取名为克赖顿，“克赖顿很聪明，很快就学会了英语”
　　2001年10月，邦妮带着克赖顿再次来到湖南省常德市社会福利院，又收养了一名1岁的健康女婴。这名女婴有乌黑的头发、大大的眼睛，邦妮一见了也喜爱极了。她得知这名女婴被送到福利院时才10天。当时福利院给这名女婴取名叫常晓芳，邦妮收养后给她取名叫赖利。
　　两女儿长得极像
　　DNA鉴定竟是亲姐妹.　渐渐长大的赖利也非常乖巧活泼，她经常在邦妮怀里调皮地推着妈妈鼻梁上的眼镜。不过随着两个孩子慢慢长大，邦妮竟惊讶地发现：两个女儿居然长得很像，都有圆圆的脸蛋、大大的眼睛，眉目之间极其相似。邦妮将两个女儿23个月大照的照片放在一起，看起来就像同一个人。邦妮说，当时她就想：两个女儿如此相像，会不会是亲生姐妹呢？2002年，邦妮将两个女儿带去做了DNA测试，结果发现两个女儿果然是亲生姐妹。
　　“这真是一个奇迹，太出乎我们的意料了！”邦妮说，当时她得知这一结果甭提有多高兴了。不过她同时又感到非常气愤：一个母亲竟狠心地先后丢掉了两个亲生女儿。也许这位母亲做梦也想不到，她丢掉的两个女儿竟被同一个养母收养，而且两个女儿还被带到了美国。
　　邦妮说，如今，大女儿克赖顿今年即将满15岁了，长得很高，身体很健康。她喜欢跑步，最擅长跳高，还在学校加入了荣誉课程。小女儿赖利今年11岁，很喜欢打网球，现在正在学中提琴。两个女儿都很乖巧、聪明，身体也很健康，喜欢参加学校的各种活动。两个女儿相处得也很友好，很喜欢在美国的生活。两女儿想见亲生父母,她想帮两人圆梦.
　　“两个女儿很棒，我为她们感到自豪！”邦妮说，现在两个女儿已逐渐懂事，她们很想知道她们来自哪里，亲生父母是谁，家里有没有其他的兄弟姐妹。两姐妹很想让亲生父母知道，她们两姐妹如今幸运地生活在一起，而且生活得很好，让亲生父母不要担心。
　　“我不会给她们的亲生父母带去麻烦，只想跟他们分享两个孩子成长的照片，让他们知道两个孩子在想念他们。我也很想亲自感谢他们给了我两个可爱的女儿。” 邦妮说，最近10年，她带着两个女儿多次来到中国。她带着女儿爬长城，逛北京，到成都看熊猫。两个女儿和她一样，都非常喜欢中国。
　　两个孩子的父母在哪里呢？邦妮回忆说，当时她从常德市社会福利院得知，两个女儿都是从重庆彭水或黔江一带送到福利院的。在桂林的一次旅游途中，邦妮与桂林志愿者徐承霖小姐相识后，委托她为自己所收养的中国姐妹寻找亲生父母。
　　徐承霖告诉记者，为了给邦妮的两个女儿寻找亲生父母，她曾专门到黔江贴寻人启事寻找过，不过目前还没有音讯。猜测两个女孩可能来自黔江彭水.　昨天，记者电话联系上了常德市社会福利院儿童部王姓工作人员。他告诉记者，1997年到2001年在福利院儿童部的工作人员都调离或退休了，现在的工作人员都是后来才来的。他听说过美国一名叫邦妮的女士曾多次来到该福利院做义工和捐款，同时也收养了该院的两个女婴。
　　“要查弃婴的生父母确实很困难。”该工作人员说，如果能够找到弃婴的亲生父母，弃婴也不会被送到福利院。因常德离彭水和黔江彭水一带较近，当时黔江、彭水福利院的设施不是很健全，当地很多弃婴就被送到了常德市社会福利院。邦妮收养的两个女婴有可能也来自彭水和黔江。
　　得知邦妮收养的两个女儿是亲生姐妹，该工作人员也很惊讶。他猜测十多年前当时重男轻女的现象相对比较严重，有的农村家庭为了要儿子就将女儿狠心遗弃了。该工作人员已记录下了克赖顿和赖利的信息，准备在福利院进一步查询相关信息。
