侗族大歌相傳是起源于春秋戰國時期，至今已有2500多年的曆史，是中國最早被發現，最早被國際所認可的的一種複調式、無指揮，無伴奏的自然的多聲部合唱音樂，其和聲渾然天成，迥然異乎西方和聲。2009年，侗族大歌被聯合國教科文組織列入“人類非物質文化遺産”。華美人文學會與法拉盛圖書館于10月2日下午1:00PM-3:00PM在法拉盛圖書館聯合舉辦“侗族大歌和中國搖滾樂現狀”講座。

英國「泰晤士報高等教育特刊」(Times Higher Education)21日公布2016-2017年全球最佳大學排行榜報告，今年將調查排名的大學數量，從去年的800所增加到980所，共有來自全球79個國家的大學上榜，其中有來自24個亞洲國家的290所大學進榜，有19所晉升全球前200名。美國大學進入排行榜前列的仍占多數，前十名中美國大學就占七所，整個最佳大學排行榜中，美國共有148所大學進榜。三分之二的美國大學進入前200名。世界前20名大學依序是：牛津大學、加州理工學院、史丹福大學、劍橋大學、麻省理工學院、哈佛大學、普林斯頓大學、倫敦帝國學院、蘇黎世聯邦理工學院、柏克萊加大與芝加哥大學並列第10 。接下來是耶魯大學、賓州大學、洛杉磯加大、倫敦大學學院、哥倫比亞大學、約翰霍普金斯大學、杜克大學、康乃爾大學、西北大學。這項調查是根據教學與學習環境、研究數量與聲望、研究報告被引用率、國際展望及知識轉移等13個指標進行評估。

The Student Success and Equity Department will be hosting the College and University Day on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. This event will be held from 10am to 1pm in the Gym. This event is a great way for Barstow Community College students to gather vital information on the transfer process. There will be over 20 colleges and universities in attendance who will be offering guidance and support to students looking to continue their education.

College and University Day is a great opportunity in where students are exposed to options they may not have been aware of. Lunch will be free for students who download the Gradguru app and only a $1 for those who do not. There will also be prizes for students who play our College and University Day Bingo game.

干细胞相关疾病医学讲座将于斯坦福举行
干细胞治疗是目前缺血性心脏病和心力衰竭最具有前瞻性的治疗方式之一，许多研究显示干细胞可以减少心肌细胞凋亡、促进心肌细胞再生，从而改善心肌缺血，缩小心肌梗塞的范围，提高心脏肌肉的收缩功能，甚至增加新生血管的形成，从而大幅度提高心功能，降低心脏的伤害。另外，最新的研究显示，癌症患者往往接受多种化疗药物的治疗，而这些化疗药物也可导致心肌损伤，从而发生相关的心力衰竭，由于缺乏有效药物的治疗，成为目前临床的疑难问题，而干细胞移植治疗有望成为化疗相关心力衰竭的最为有效的方法。斯坦福医学中心(Stanford Medicine )的心脏科医生以及心肌干细胞研究专家Dr. Phillip Yang于9月24日 (周六) 下午1时到4时，在斯坦福医学院的Alway M106室主讲干细胞在心血管疾病及癌症患者中的治疗进展。 Dr .
